Program Overview

The course aims at upgrading students' English proficiency in the workplace. It introduces students to the basic communication knowledge they will need for writing business correspondence, delivering business presentations and participating in business meetings. Moreover, it acquaints students with theories of effective communication, and the effects of technology, discrimination and cultural factors on business communication.

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:

  • apply concepts and theories underlying effective communication in business-related communication
  • communicate in person, by telephone, and in meeting
  • make oral presentations
  • build up confidence to increase scores in the TOEIC test

The Diploma in Business Communication was divided into four modules.
Module 1 The Writing Process

  • Preparing to Take the TOEIC Test

Module 2 Corresponding at Work

  • Informal Reports
  • Proposals and Formal Reports

Module 3 Developing Speaking Skills & Listening Comprehension Section of TOEIC

  • Communicating in Person, by Telephone, and in Meetings
  • Making Oral Presentation
  • Listening Comprehension Section Overview

  • Short Conversations
  • Short Talks

Module 4 Communicating for Employment & Reading Section of TOEIC

  • The Job Search, Resumes, and Job Application Letters

Entry Requirement
Completion of Form 5; or equivalent qualifications.
Duration
The course is conducted in part-time mode and will be delivered by 120 hours face-to-face classroom instruction. the courses can be completed in 5 months.
Application Procedure

Each applicant must submit the following items during application:

  • Completed application form
  • Original and certified copies of certificates of educational qualifications
  • Two recent passport-size photographs
  • A copy of Hong Kong Identity Card or Passport
